Describe the residual data set:
Step 1
In order to create a table that represents this residual data, click anywhere in ClassPad to bring up the ClassPad menu, and click on the Statistical Data icon.
Step 2
Enter the data set into the table.
Step 3
To see the scatter plot, select the data in the table, click Graph in the pop-up menu and then select Scatterplot.
Step 4
Verify the graph of the residuals.
Step 5
Add the rest of the points in the table.
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 5 | 6 | 6 | 7 | 7 | 8 | 8 | 5 | 9 | |
-9 | -2 | 2 | 4 | 5 | 3 | 5 | 2 | -5 | -2.5 | 2 | 5 | -4 | 5 |
Step 6
To see the enlarged scatter plot, select the data in the table, click Graph in the pop-up menu and then select Scatterplot. What patterns can you identify in the following residual plots that might indicate that the regression line is not a good model for the data?
